Explanation of Dedicated Servers Web Hosting
When we speak of hosting servers, there are three principal varieties - shared website hosting servers, VPS (virtual private hosting servers) and dedicated web hosting servers. Shared web hosting servers accommodate many customers and thus the system resources per user account are limited, virtual private server accounts offer more configuration autonomy, but also affect other virtual private web hosting servers on the hardware node if used unwisely, and dedicated servers give you the opportunity to perform everything you think fit without messing with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated web hosting server?
32 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x480 GB nvme Hard Drives
256 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x960 GB nvme Hard Drives
Dedicated servers are generally much more high-priced than shared servers or virtual private web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The explanation is pretty simple. If your firm has a high resource-consuming site, or simply has very special server configuration requirements, the right choice is a dedicated server. For somebody who is inclined to invest in security and dependability, the bigger price is not a concern. You are bestowed with full server root privileges and can utilize 100% of the dedicated hosting server's system resources without anyone else sharing these resources and meddling with your websites.
Hardware specifications
Most shared web hosting vendors, incl. us at Throst, provide different hardware configurations you can pick from in consonance with your requirements. The hardware architectures offer different varieties of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and hard drive sizes and different bandwidth allowances. You can select a hosting Control Panel, which is a handy user interface if you would like to use the web hosting server for hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to SSH for all the modifications you will be making. We provide three types of hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The web hosting Control Panel of your choice
If you are a self-assured Linux user (our web servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated server via a Secure Shell console only. That, however, could be awkward, even more so if you choose to give full root-level access to someone else who has less technical abilities than yourself. This is why having hosting Control Panel software activated is a brilliant idea. The Hepsia web hosting CP GUI that we offer does not include full root privileges and is mainly suitable for somebody who runs a lot of web pages that demand lots of resources, but would rather manage the online portals, databases and email mailboxes via a user-friendly hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel Control Panels, on the other hand, give you complete root access and include three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting accounts instead of using the dedicated web hosting server solely for yourself, you should choose one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated web hosting server and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your dedicated hosting web server, like an unresponsive Apache or a network outage, it is good to have some kind of monitoring platform activated. Here at Throst the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated web hosting server as well. Backups are also an additional option - the hosting distributor offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a kind of RAID that would permit you to keep the same data on 2 server hard disks as a protective measure in case of a hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given access erases something by mistake.
